How to Take blurred background photos with your Phone

How to take professional looking depth-of-field blurred background photos with your iPhone! If you’ve been trying to take your own photos and need a little help, this blog post is for you.

I enjoy using a professional photographer (I’m one as well and love my DSLR) but I also like saving a few coins and time when shooting content, especially when I’m taking photos outside. The quality of the newest iPhones are great and that’s why some creators are using their phones to create amazing content for their blogs, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and more!

it's ok if you don't want the blurred background!

10 Portrait Photo Tips:

  1. Keep an extra tripod in the car
  2. Shot in portrait mode
  3. Turn the camera vertically or horizontally (I always shoot vertically for Instagram)
  4. Set the timer for 10 secs or use the remote control
  5. Stand 6-8 feet away from camera (count steps from the tripod. You have 10 seconds to get in place)
  6. Mark the spot with something very little once you find the perfect spot
  7. Take several pictures until you have several good ones
  8. If your entire body isn’t in the photo, tilt the camera down
  9. Move around until you find the perfect composition and get the blurred background
  10. Review your photos to make sure you have good ones before you leave the location and save a few to your favorites folder
